Sunnundalu; urad dal is dry-roasted until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma. The roasted dal is then ground into a fine powder. Jaggery is melted in a separate pan until it forms a thick syrup. The ground urad dal powder is mixed with the jaggery syrup along with ghee (clarified butter) and sometimes flavored with cardamom powder. The mixture is then shaped into small, round laddus (balls) while it is still warm.
Sunnundalu are prized for their rich flavor, crunchy texture, and natural sweetness derived from the jaggery. They are often enjoyed as a nutritious snack, particularly during festivals, celebrations, or as a treat for special occasions.
